Dirty tactics from the Tories

Tories steal UKIP colours in Eastleigh

The Guardian’s Steven Morrison has pointed out this leaflet from the Conservatives in Eastleigh today, which undeniably seeks to confuse voters by using UKIP colours.

Dirty tactics from the Tories

Dirty tactics from the Tories

It  clearly demonstrates a few things. Firstly, that the Conservatives are extremely worried about the UKIP performance tonight.

Secondly, that the Tories think nothing of trying to deceive the voters in a desperate bid to avoid humiliation in Eastleigh.

It is quite frankly shocking form. I have a feeling though that despite putting forward a Tory candidate that pretty much espouses UKIP’s platform (and now nicking the party’s colours), the public are not going to be mugged by deceit either tonight or in the long term.

The Conservative campaign in Eastleigh should be ashamed.

Just shows how low they will sink.

  • david.geddes1

Classic own goal from the Tories.

  • Sean

And what the hell are you going to do when we end up with a Labour government because of your stupid one policy party??

    • http://twitter.com/Bertthebuilder Arthur Moe

      Check the manifesto mate.

The correct question is “what are you going to do when the Tories keep out UKIP across the rest of the country” That would prevent us having genuine opposition in Parliament to Ever Closer Union which only UKIP can provide. The Conservative Party often gives the impression it feels it owns the votes of anyone who ever voted for them in the past – about time they realised the votes were only ever lent.

explain how you are going to know the difference between the 2, and don’t mention to so called promised referendum that’s as vague a promise as a “barbecue summer”. Your man has form, he is a lier, and he will say anything to keep us happy, he is dedicated his premiership to keeping us in the EU. The EU will not allow him to make more than superficial changes to anything, They will make promises, and he will knife us in the back with a rigged referendum, or even take away the offer “because there is no need for it now I have promises” remember Blairs promises they cost us billions and we got nothing.

      • Sean

Until you start going after the Labour Party I will not take UKIP seriously and nor should anyone else. A vote for UKIP is a vote for Miliband which is a sad state of affairs, UKIP will never be a genuine opposition it will just enable Labour governments in the future which I don’t think the country will thank you for.
By the way, has Nigel published his expenses yet – all that Belgian Real Ale………..

        • http://twitter.com/radsatser radsatser

Why should we worry if you take us seriously or not. This isn’t a popularity contest, this is a war, it just so happens that the Conservative party will be the first casualty, but don’t worry yourself we will get around to Labour soon enough.

          • Sean

            Not good enough I’m afraid.

          • http://twitter.com/radsatser radsatser

            Do we look bothered!!.

You wouldn’t support UKIP whatever the situation. The reason you play a game of suggesting your qualified support, only when we attack Labour, is because you actually want us to damage Labour to help the Conservative party become more electable. When we get around to Labour, the one thing you can guarantee,is that there will be no implied or actual help for the Conservative party. You are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

          • Sean

UKIP will never govern this country. You say “when we get around to Labour” the Labour party has firmly said no to what you want, a referendum so I would have thought that would put them at the top of your list or is it because that’s too much like hard work? I will say it one more time – a vote for UKIP is a vote for Miliband.

          • Steven

UKIP only really stand for getting Britain out of the EU. Whilst this is welcome and essential, I find UKIP’s stance on the economy worrying. They should adopt a nationalist stance and not their present Thatcherite globalist one which has done so much damage to this country.

    • http://twitter.com/radsatser radsatser

Start and destroy them as well, clear enough for you. Labour, Conservative, LibDem, they all pi** in the same pot, all equally culpable for the mess we are in.

Can I give you a tip, if you want to be act like a petulant schoolboy, then you will be treat as a petulant schoolboy, so do yourself a favour, grow up and discuss the issues, or bu**er off back to the nursery you come from.

      • Sean

Well there you go! And you call me petulant! I will leave you to your forum but I will not thank you for the Labour government that you lot will inflict on this country and to think you asked me to grow up!!

    • Vimeiro

The present government seems no different to Labour.

  • John

On this very page I’m seeing an advert for Diane James against a backdrop of green and blue.

  • ajibee

Tsk, tsk, this is the sort of low behaviour you might expect from the LibDems or Labour scum.

  • pikuman

Wow how desperate can the Tories get, not only have they pinched UKIP colours but the leaflet is factually incorrect. The banner headline states that ‘Local UKIP MEP backs Maria….’ since it refers to Marta Andreasen who is no longer a UKIP MEP. We cannot see the back of the leaflet but if it does not contain an imprint for the Conservatives their election agent will be in trouble.

    • http://twitter.com/radsatser radsatser

Immitation is the severest form of flattery, we should be honoured, but it does speak volumes about how scared they are.

      • http://twitter.com/AbbeyLane5 Abbey Lane

Don’t be daft, it speaks volumes about what devious, scheming louts they really are! And I’m very surprised the press have not picked up on the rotten idea.

  • Chris Woods

There is surely a legal challenge to be made when one candidate effectively impersonates another to deliberately confuse the voters?

  • http://twitter.com/NickSinger Nick Singer

    Anybody that surprised?

This just shows how far our Tory Party has sunk with this lacklustre P.M
We need a strong leader not a smarmy Blair clone.
The PM has cared more about harnessing the Pink vote over Gay marriages that, quite frankly, no-one really cares about, and has now lost the Blue vote handing the Country back to Unite.
It’s too late for this born loser, still a lecture tour awaits to swell his many millions.
Where are the Strong Tory leaders when you need them? one who can pass a mirror without preening.
I despair of this once great party.

  • pobinr

Is the message sinking in now ‘Out of Touch Dave’?
We don’t want to wait another 5 years for an EU referendum.
    We’re tired of mass immigration.
We’re tired of being ruled by the EUssr Politburo.
    We want our borders back.
    We want our democracy back.
In other words we want our country back!
    Three cheers for UKIP
Eastleigh candidate speechless after coming 3rd behind UKIP.

But LibDems an Labour didn’t do it, did they? Someone in the Tory machine stooped lower than the low they detest so much to bring out a fake UKIP style leaflet picturing the Tory candidate there atop of the full UKIP regalia! Who dreamed up that rip off ploy?
